Royals Pitcher Cole Ragans Does the Unthinkable in Central Park Before Yankees Showdown

October 9, 2024

I've done this in other cities as well, said Ragans, before adding that the scenery was a bonus. Central Park is gorgeous, I mean it's unbelievable. I walked through and there were people playing soccer, volleyball, guys playing catch with their dads, and it was just awesome to see.

Ragans, who sports a 3.03 ERA this season, considers himself an adventurous type. It's no surprise that he decided to take his warm-up to Central Park instead of sticking to the conventional practice of warming up at Yankee Stadium. He noted that he's done this kind of workout session in other cities when he's had an off-day.

Just being able to experience new cities and do stuff like this is really cool to me, he explained. I love seeing new places, trying new restaurants and experiencing what each city has to offer.

Despite making headlines for his walk in Central Park, Ragans made it clear that his primary focus is on the series. The Royals are looking to claim their first championship since 2015 and Ragans' participation will play a crucial role in their success.

The pitcher added that playing catch with other teammates was a special experience for him. The session allowed him to interact with fans who were surprised to see him playing catch, leading to an assortment of exciting encounters. There were kids who asked him for baseballs and were thrilled to meet him.

Central Park might not have been where Ragans expected to hone his skills for his important matchup with the Yankees, but he didn't mind one bit. He had made an instant impression, not only with the fans who surrounded him but also with his team. As they gear up to take on the rest of the league, it is evident that Ragans' passion for the sport transcends any boundary - on or off the field.
