Sheffield's Thriving Music Scene on Brink of Silence: £30k the Only Hope to Stop Bulldozers from Destroying Rehearsal Rooms

September 15, 2024

A Sheffield studio that has been the heart and soul of the city’s music scene is facing the threat of demolition, leaving 70 local bands without a place to call home.

Make Noise Studio, a beloved rehearsal space, has been given an eviction notice to make way for a developer’s car park. The news has sent shockwaves through the local music community, with many musicians taking to social media to express their outrage and disappointment.

The studio has been a staple of the community for years, providing a safe and affordable space for up-and-coming bands to hone their craft. With its eviction, many musicians are worried about the impact it will have on the local music scene.

“Make Noise Studio is more than just a rehearsal space – it’s a community, a family,” said one local musician. “If it’s gone, it will leave a huge void in the city’s music scene. We can’t let that happen.”

A fundraising campaign has been launched to try and save the studio, with a target of £30,000. The money will be used to secure a new location and continue to provide a space for local musicians to rehearse.

“We’re not just fighting to save a studio – we’re fighting to save the heart and soul of Sheffield’s music scene,” said the studio’s owner. “We urge everyone who cares about music to support us in this fight.”

Time is of the essence, with the studio facing eviction at the end of the month. If the fundraising target is not met, the studio will be forced to close its doors for good.

“The thought of Sheffield without Make Noise Studio is heartbreaking,” said a local music promoter. “It would be a huge loss for the city’s music scene. We need to act fast to save it.”

For those who want to support the cause, donations can be made through the studio’s fundraising page. Every little bit counts, and with the help of the community, Make Noise Studio can continue to thrive.

Sheffield’s music scene is on the brink of silence – but it doesn’t have to be that way. With the support of the community, Make Noise Studio can continue to be a hub for creativity and music for years to come.
