Stepping back in time to 100 years ago, our small town was making headlines for some intriguing reasons. The year was 1924, and a wave of fear was sweeping through the community as an epidemic scare forced the local school to close its doors. For a town that valued education and the well-being of its children, this news came as a significant blow.
As the town struggled to contain the outbreak, 1949 brought a different kind of challenge. The peaceful residents of Mirror Pond, the beautiful waterfowl that called the pond home, found themselves in dire need of food. Their situation only served to remind the townsfolk of the importance of caring for their environment and preserving the ecosystem.
Fast forward to 1974, and this quaint town had something new to boast about: its thriving Bend Sawmill. This marvel of industry was so impressive that even 'grass roots' diplomats took notice. During a visit to the sawmill, these diplomats were left in awe by the sheer efficiency and innovative approaches employed in this bustling hub of activity.
