Ohio State is No. 1 in the final Associated Press Top 25 football poll of the season after beating Notre Dame for its first national championship since 2014. The Buckeyes received every first-place vote following their run through the College Football Playoff, which culminated in a thrilling victory over the Fighting Irish.
The Buckeyes were dominant all season long, with a high-powered offense and a stifling defense that proved to be too much for their opponents to handle. Their championship win marked the third time in school history that they have taken home the top prize, and it solidified their position as one of the premier programs in college football.
Notre Dame, on the other hand, had a remarkable season in its own right, with a number of impressive victories over top-ranked teams. Although they ultimately fell short of their goal of winning the national championship, the Fighting Irish have a lot to be proud of, and they will certainly be a team to watch in the years to come.
Mississippi and BYU also made waves in the final poll, as they managed to finish ahead of some of the teams that made the College Football Playoff. This unexpected turn of events has sparked a lot of debate among college football fans, with some arguing that the current playoff system is flawed and that teams like Mississippi and BYU deserved a shot at the championship.
Regardless of how one feels about the playoff system, however, there is no denying that this season was one of the most exciting in recent memory. With a number of thrilling matchups and unexpected upsets, college football fans were on the edge of their seats from start to finish. And as the offseason gets underway, there is already a lot of anticipation building for next year’s campaign.
For now, though, Ohio State is basking in the glory of its national championship victory. The Buckeyes will celebrate their title with a parade and a number of other festivities, and they will certainly be looking to repeat as champions next season. With a talented roster and a seasoned coaching staff, they have all the pieces in place to make another deep run in the playoffs.
As for Notre Dame, Mississippi, and BYU, they will all be looking to build on their successes from this season and make a push for the championship next year. It should be another exciting season of college football, and fans can’t wait to see what happens.
