Ogbomoso-born international singer and songwriter, Alexander Abolore Akande, better known as 9ice, was on Thursday officially announced as the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival Ambassador.
The development has continued to generate excitement among the people of Ogbomosoland in Oyo State as they look forward to the socio-cultural event, which aim at showcasing the cultural and tourism potential of Ogbomoso for the economic development of the area.
According to the organizers of the event, Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival is scheduled to hold between December 19-23, 2024. The carnival which is expected to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ogbomoso people is anticipated to attract tourists and economic investors to the area.
Speaking at the official announcement of 9ice as the ambassador, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III called for community development, urging all sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland to cooperate with the organizers to make the event a success.
The rationale behind 9ice's emergence as the ambassador is not far-fetched as the multiple award-winning singer has been a household name in Nigeria and beyond for several years, using his music to promote the culture and traditions of Ogbomoso.
His music career, which has spanned over two decades has been characterized by a fusion of traditional Yoruba sounds and contemporary styles, making him a great fit for the job as the ambassador for the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival.

He explained that aside from the socio-cultural benefits of the event, the carnival will also provide an opportunity for the Ogbomoso community to showcase its tourism potential, thereby boosting the local economy.
