Shocking Truth Revealed: Obaseki's Link to Benin Royal Museum Exposed

November 19, 2024

A recent protest over artefacts in Nigeria has sparked a heated debate about the ownership and management of the Benin Royal Museums.

The Managing Director of the Monument, Museum and Ancients (Mowaa) Nigeria, Mr. Ihenacho, has come out to refute claims that funds meant for the museum were diverted.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Ihenacho stated that the funds were used for the intended purpose, and that the museum is still on track to meet its goals.

However, what has caught the attention of many is the ownership of the facility. According to Mr. Ihenacho, the Edo State Governor, Obaseki, is often referred to as the owner of the museum, but this is not entirely accurate.

While Governor Obaseki has been instrumental in the development of the museum, Mr. Ihenacho was quick to point out that the facility is actually owned by the federal government.

This clarification has sparked a heated debate about the role of state governments in the management of federal institutions.

The Benin Royal Museum is one of the most important cultural institutions in Nigeria, housing a vast collection of artefacts and historical relics.

The museum has been at the centre of controversy in recent years, with many calling for the repatriation of artefacts looted during the colonial era.

The recent protest over artefacts is just the latest in a long line of challenges facing the museum.

Despite these challenges, the museum remains an important symbol of Nigerian culture and identity.
