Sony has just fired a significant shot in the gaming monitor wars, announcing the upgraded Inzone M9 II and M10S monitors that promise to elevate the gaming experience for both FPS and PS5 enthusiasts. Monitor manufacturers are constantly pushing the boundaries of what gamers can expect from their screens, and Sony is no exception.
Back in 2022, Sony first introduced their line of Inzone gaming headsets and displays, which got people pretty excited. Building upon that momentum, the new Inzone M9 II and M10S gaming monitors aim to solidify Sony's position in the competitive gaming display market.
The Inzone M9 II serves as an upgraded version of its predecessor. It retains many of the original's features while notably improving others. This 27-inch 4K IPS display boasts an impressive 160Hz refresh rate, ramping up the gaming performance compared to the original M9's 144Hz. The maximum brightness is now a respectable 750 nits, standing tall with VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification. This certification not only future-proofs the monitor but also allows it to play HDR content smoothly.
An issue some users faced with the original M9 was the limited adjustability of its tripod stand. Sony listened and has made a thoughtful upgrade by replacing the tripod stand with a compact disc stand featuring 180 degrees of rotation. Providing users with a far greater degree of flexibility, this design upgrade also utilizes less desk space. Another function allows for height, tilt and swivel adjustments.
What would really excite the PS5 console enthusiasts is that PS5 owners can simply connect and use the Inzone M9 II (and possibly other future Sony gaming monitors) since their consoles can automatically recognize Inzone gaming monitors. The M9 II can intelligently detect gaming and movie formats and adjust the settings. While gaming, you can use the Game Mode, and once you shift to watching movies, it automatically goes into Cinema Mode, providing the perfect setting that suits your visual preferences.
Sony's Inzone M10S is undoubtedly the head-turner. It features an excellent 27-inch 1440p OLED panel, and its impressive 480Hz refresh rate will satiate those massive gamer demands. However, it is still in pursuit of games taking full advantage of that extreme refresh rate. At least the 0.03ms GtG response time leaves it best poised to take on all comers. DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification is also proof of its superior quality and potential.
Something very different that happened in the design of the M10S is that Sony consulted real gamers – specifically Fnatic's Valorant esports team. Their professional input formed an enriching part of its design process. The team provided feedback in the creation of two picture modes – FPS Pro+ and FPS Pro. The FPS Pro+ mode interestingly enhances enemies in the in-game setting using a colored outline. The more nostalgic among gamers will probably feel right at home with the option to simulate LCD monitors via the `FPS Pro` mode – the result of what happens when manufacturers let gamers do the talking.
The Inzone M10S incorporates what appears to be an advanced heat removal system. To further minimize the potential for burn-in issues associated with their OLED display, Sony has engineered an innovative heat sink. The design combines passive cooling tech through multiple layers consisting of aluminum plates and critical thermal pads.
Both the M9 II and the Inzone M10S include unique functions allowing users to switch the gaming resolution manually. An interesting default option will let you enjoy an on-screen display equivalent to the visuals of a TN 24.5-inch panel alongside its full refresh rate and maintained response time. This display mode imitates the fast-paced feel of gaming on a TN 24.5-inch panel and is yet another feature designed with gamers in mind.
Current would-be owners of the M9 II will be relieved that they can grab it right away. Get the M9 II now from the Sony official website and authorized sellers, enjoying it for $800 – another cherry on top since it beats its original price tag by $100. Looking to splurge? $1,100 grants you access to Sony's very own Inzone M10S behemoth gaming powerhouse monitor.
