IT’S HARD to think of more challenging weather conditions than those facing Bradford City and Crewe as Storm Darragh did its worst this weekend. However, despite the extreme weather, one person remains optimistic: Bradford City’s manager, Mark Hughes, along with the fans, sees a brighter future ahead for the Bantams.
The storm made the game an extremely hard watch, with rain battering the pitch throughout the game. On several occasions the ball was seen skidding off the turf and testing the skills of the players on both teams.
One question on everyone’s mind was whether the game was going to go ahead at all. Pre-match the wind was strong enough to knock over signs located at the exterior of the ground, although clear-up work had been done before kickoff to alleviate any player safety concerns.
Despite all of this, fans still turned out in high numbers to support their local side. The result didn’t matter to them, it was all about braving the storm, standing strong like the Bantams.
Bradford City ended up winning the match 2-1, which lifted the atmosphere even higher for the traveling home team. With this win under their belt, it will be exciting to see how they go next match.
This feels like a new beginning for the team. Despite the challenging conditions, Bradford City’s performance suggests they may finally be seeing some brighter days ahead.
