Strictly Come Dancing bosses are cracking down on the show's notorious racy rehearsals by introducing chaperones to supervise contestants' training sessions.
Following a damning misconduct investigation that shook the show to its core, producers are determined to restore the family-friendly reputation of the BBC's flagship dance competition by clamping down on out-of-hours training.
For years, Strictly has been dogged by rumors of illicit trysts between contestants and their dance partners, many of which have been fueled by the intense physical and emotional intimacy required to perfect the show's complex routines.
However, in the wake of the latest scandal, the show's executives have finally taken decisive action to prevent the kind of behind-the-scenes shenanigans that have threatened to tarnish the show's wholesome image.
Under the new rules, contestants will be strictly forbidden from rehearsing with their dance partners outside of their allocated training times, unless a certified chaperone is present to supervise.
The decision is likely to come as a blow to many of the show's stars, who have long relied on out-of-hours practice sessions to perfect their moves and gain a competitive edge.
However, producers believe that the introduction of chaperones will not only help to prevent any further misconduct but also ensure that all contestants are treated fairly and with respect.
“We take the welfare and safety of our contestants very seriously,” a spokesperson for the show said. “The introduction of chaperones is just one of the many measures we are taking to ensure that everyone involved in the show feels safe and supported at all times.”
While the decision has been welcomed by many, some fans have expressed concern that the introduction of chaperones will ruin the show's magic by controlling the natural chemistry between contestants and their dance partners.
However, with the show's reputation on the line, producers are willing to take that risk in order to restore Strictly to its former glory and ensure that it remains a family-friendly favorite for years to come.
Only time will tell if the new rules will have the desired effect, but one thing is certain – this season of Strictly is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic and unpredictable yet.
