An organisation of Taylor Swift fans have reportedly raised a staggering amount of money following a shocking post from former US President Donald Trump, who has been a long-time critic of the singer.
According to sources, the group, which calls itself "Swifties for Harris", managed to collect over US$40,000 (RM172,000) in just a short span of time, bringing their total donations to a whopping US$209,000 (RM889,000) for the campaign of US Vice-President Kamala Harris.
The funds were initially raised in an effort to support Harris' campaign, but the organisation shifted their focus after Trump posted a message online, bashing the pop star. Swifties around the world quickly rallied together, donating money and sharing their support for the singer on social media.
The move is a testament to the power of Swift's devoted fan base, who have been known to come together in support of their idol time and time again. Fans took to Twitter and Instagram to express their outrage over Trump's post, using hashtags like #WeStandWithTaylor and #TaylorSwift to show their support.
Harris' campaign team has yet to release an official statement on the matter, but a representative for the Vice-President has said that they "appreciate the enthusiasm and support of Taylor Swift's fans".
It remains to be seen whether the funds raised by the Swifties will have an impact on Harris' campaign, but one thing is for certain - Swift's devoted fan base will stop at nothing to defend their idol. As one fan so eloquently put it, "We may not be able to vote for Taylor, but we can definitely vote with our wallets".
