Relay, the latest corporate espionage thriller to hit the big screen, is generating a lot of buzz. And for good reason - with its heart-pumping action sequences, sleek cinematography, and themes of corporate greed, it seems to have all the ingredients of a classic thriller. But despite its many strengths, there is one thing that sets Relay apart from the competition: its strangely unsatisfying ending.
According to insiders, the film's conclusion is where the wheels start to come off. What appears to be a carefully constructed web of intrigue and deception starts to unravel in the final ten minutes, with plot twists that feel like they come out of nowhere and characters making decisions that seem out of character.
It's not the first time a movie has been marred by a messy ending, but in the case of Relay, it's particularly frustrating because of how well-executed the rest of the film is. With its breakneck pacing and exceptional performances from the cast, it's easy to get caught up in the world of corporate espionage that the filmmakers have created. But then the ending comes along and yanks the rug right out from under the viewer.
So what's a cinephile to do? One possible solution might be to take the unthinkable step of leaving the theater ten minutes before the end credits roll. Now, before you start throwing popcorn at the screen, hear me out - by skipping the final ten minutes of the movie, you might be able to preserve the sense of excitement and tension that the rest of the film has built up. Think of it as a form of self-preservation, a way of shielding yourself from the disappointment and frustration that the ending is likely to inspire.
Of course, this is easier said than done, especially if you're the type of person who feels compelled to see everything through to the end. But if you value your sanity - and your appreciation of an otherwise excellent thriller - it might be worth considering.
So is Relay worth watching? Absolutely. Is the ending worth sitting through? That's a tougher call. But by being aware of the pitfalls that lie ahead, you can approach the movie with a more critical eye and make an informed decision about how you want to experience it. Just remember - in a thriller, it's not always about getting to the end. Sometimes it's about knowing when to walk away.
