The Day Catfish Got DESTROYED By Stephen Jackson's Epic Trash Talk - 'I Was Mortified!'

October 7, 2024

Former NBA player Joakim Noah recently shared an amusing anecdote about an encounter between his former teammate, Stephen Jackson, and referee Tony Brothers. The conversation took place during an NBA podcast where Noah was reminiscing about his playing days and shared the story of how Jackson left referee Brothers, famously known as 'Catfish,' completely disheartened with his cheeky trash talk.

According to Noah, the moment was exceptionally rare since Catfish Brothers was known for having a short fuse. Noah described the situation as he continued talking, recounting how shocked he was at the things Jackson was saying during that particular game. Noah concluded that there was 'no chance' Brothers could make any comeback after Jackson unleashed his tongue-lashing on the referee.

Noah then expounded further on how everything occurred. Jackson, usually unflappable, just wouldn't stop taking shots verbally at Brotherson during that game. It was, indeed, something to behold.

Joakim expressed the degree to which he was taken aback. A little surprised and bewildered at how the entire scenario unfolded during that time. Usually one wouldn't expect something such as this when dealing with a ref, but that's why they call Stephen Jackson 'Stack.' They never could know what to expect, and for all we know, Joakim, who at some point, had an uncanny kind of rapport with Stephen, also found out about it, post-factum. For Noah, Jackson's speech sounded like it could unleash destruction on just about anyone.

He revealed, still discussing the verbal lashing, that no matter what Stephen could say or think before receiving such trash talkback, all of a sudden it rendered them shocked and unarguably frightened too - this also implied that people could get scared to even come to town and play them in basketball because Stephen 'Stack' Jackson seemed more formidable, more overpowering off the court than he was in an on-court game.

According to Noah, even though Stephen seemed pretty ordinary at that point in the game, other than the constant chattering that made Catfish an emotionally vulnerable wreck, Joakim undoubtedly pointed to that instance and implied simply that maybe that's just not the kind of response that comes with competing with such a firecracker that doesn't understand conventional notions of good sportsmanship.

Joakim Noah does have that right to judge that moment an unforgettable one and many others too. Of course he also proved how some of that 'Stack' attitude made even him frightened when his fellow basketball player rose the heat with his crazy trash talk. Also Stephen may not have merely just achieved this alone during his impressive years in basketball. Stephen may indeed one day come out on top of all this and reveal further what lies beyond that particular story - which clearly took a toll on both Stack Jackson and, at a certain extent to everyone around them, too - and then, and only then would we be able to get to know the full essence and impact of the seemingly complex bonds they forged that have had Joakim constantly telling stories to ignite memories that they worked themselves towards unearthing.
