The Rise and Fall of Shamitabh Actress - What Went Wrong
October 23, 2024
Those who remember the 2015 film Shamitabh, an Indian satirical black comedy film directed by R. Balki, will definitely recall the young actress who made her Bollywood debut alongside the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush. The actress in question is none other than Akshara Haasan, daughter of renowned Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur. With her charming on-screen presence and talented star parents, Akshara was expected to rake in the numbers at the box office, but her career hasn't been as successful as anticipated.
Despite her Bollywood debut, Shamitabh bombed at the box office, earning only a meager amount. Though her performance was appreciated by critics, it wasn't enough to make her a household name. Post her debut, Akshara ventured into the South Indian film industry, primarily featuring in Tamil and Telugu films. However, these films also underperformed, and her career continued to slide downwards.
One of her notable works is the 2017 Tamil action film Vivegam, which has Ajith Kumar in the lead. Despite featuring Ajith Kumar, the film failed to gain momentum. Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana is another example of an underwhelming box office performance, and it looks like the poor show of these films has largely affected her Bollywood aspirations.
Akshara's failure to replicate her father's success is quite a common occurrence in the film industry. Many actors struggle to step out of their parents' shadows and carve a niche for themselves. For Akshara Haasan, finding her footing in the cutthroat world of cinema has been a challenge, as struggles to find a firm place in Bollywood.
Unfortunately, an actor's career largely depends on getting the right opportunities at the right time. Timely breaks are essential in show business, where an individual's relevance can significantly impact their career trajectory. It remains to be seen whether Akshara will manage to bounce back with an impactful role or slowly fade away into obscurity. Nonetheless, her current status serves as a humble reminder that talent alone is not enough to guarantee success.
