Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup was left with mixed emotions after his team suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bristol City in the Championship.
Despite dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities, the Canaries were unable to capitalize on their chances, and it was Bristol City who ultimately emerged victorious.
Thorup was visibly frustrated on the sidelines as his team struggled to break down the Bristol City defense, and he was left to ponder what could have been after the final whistle.
The Norwegian manager had high praise for his team's effort and determination, but was critical of their lack of clinical finishing in front of goal.
"I think we played some good football at times, but we just couldn't seem to get the ball in the back of the net," Thorup said in his post-match interview.
"We had some great chances, but we didn't take them, and that's what cost us the game."
Thorup also expressed his disappointment with the referee's decision not to award his team a penalty in the second half, after a Bristol City defender appeared to handle the ball in the box.
"I think it was a clear handball, and it should have been a penalty," Thorup said.
"But we can't use that as an excuse. We should have been more clinical in front of goal, and we should have won the game."
Despite the defeat, Thorup remains confident in his team's ability to bounce back and challenges them to learn from their mistakes.
"We'll analyze the game, and we'll work on our finishing in training," he said.
"We'll come back stronger, and we'll be ready for our next game."
