TITANS ON THE BRINK: Halftime Woes Threaten to Derail Entire Season!

November 14, 2024

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Check the stats. The Tennessee Titans' struggles after halftime are easy to see. Through the first seven games of the 2023 season, the Titans have been outscored 73-20 in the third quarter. That's a whopping 53-point deficit that has left fans scratching their heads and coaches searching for answers.

It's a trend that has become all too familiar for the Titans, who have consistently struggled to come out strong in the second half of games. Whether it's a lack of adjustments, ineffective play-calling, or simply a lack of execution, the Titans have been unable to shake off the third-quarter blues.

Despite their best efforts, the Titans have been unable to overcome their halftime struggles. In their last three games, the Titans have been outscored 34-0 in the third quarter, a statistic that is both alarming and frustrating for a team that has shown flashes of brilliance at times this season.

So, what's behind the Titans' third-quarter woes? According to head coach Mike Vrabel, it's a combination of factors. 'We're not making enough plays, plain and simple,' Vrabel said. 'We're not executing well enough, and we're giving up too many big plays on defense.'

Vrabel also pointed to a lack of adjustments as a major factor in the Titans' struggles. 'We're not adjusting well enough at halftime,' he said. 'We're not making the necessary adjustments to counter what the opposing team is doing.'

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who has been at the helm of the Titans' offense for the past three seasons, echoed Vrabel's sentiments. 'We're just not executing well enough,' Tannehill said. 'We're not making enough plays, and we're turning the ball over too many times.'

Despite their struggles, the Titans remain optimistic that they can turn things around. With a tough stretch of games coming up, the Titans know they need to figure out their third-quarter woes — and fast. 'We need to start playing better in the second half of games,' Vrabel said. 'We need to start making more plays and giving ourselves a chance to win.'

The Titans will get their next chance to do just that on Sunday, when they host the Kansas City Chiefs at Nissan Stadium. With a little over half of the season remaining, the Titans are still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. But if they can't figure out their third-quarter struggles, their chances of making a deep postseason run will be all but dashed.
