A London-bound EasyJet flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a bag of vapes exploded on board, causing widespread panic and chaos among passengers. The incident occurred when the bag, which contained several vapes, suddenly caught fire, filling the cabin with smoke and forcing the pilots to divert the plane to the nearest airport.
Numerous passengers on board the flight took to social media to share their terrifying experiences, with one witness describing the scene as “chaotic”. “I was sitting a few rows away from the bag when it suddenly exploded,” the witness said. “The sound was like a loud banging noise, and then flames started coming out of the bag.”
Passengers were quickly evacuated from the plane using the emergency slides, but not before one passenger was reportedly hurt during the evacuation process. “It was total chaos,” another passenger said. “People were screaming and running for the doors. I saw one person fall and hurt their leg as they were rushing to get off the plane.”
The incident raises serious concerns about the safety of lithium batteries on commercial flights. Lithium batteries, which are commonly used to power vapes and other electronic devices, have been known to be a fire hazard, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has banned the transportation of loose lithium batteries in carry-on and checked bags.
Experts say that the incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of lithium batteries and the importance of properly storing them during flights. “Lithium batteries can be volatile and prone to overheating, which can cause fires,” said a aviation expert. “Passengers should always be cautious when traveling with electronic devices and follow the proper safety procedures for storing them.”
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but EasyJet has confirmed that an investigation is underway. The airline has also praised the quick actions of the flight crew, who responded swiftly to the emergency and managed to evacuate all passengers safely.
As the investigation continues, passengers are advised to exercise caution when traveling with electronic devices and to follow all safety procedures to minimize the risk of any incidents on board.
