The Minnesota Vikings, the NFL season's top performers, continued to impress fans with their fifth consecutive win. The unbeaten team faced off against the New York Jets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, securing a nail-biting 23-17 victory on Sunday. New York's defense tightly contained Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, who was once drafted by the Jets and released after three seasons. However, when the game seemed ready to be handed to the Jets, the Vikings' defense saved the day by stopping Aaron Rodgers in the final minutes of the game. Rodgers had led a 10-play drive as New York desperately sought a winning touchdown, but he was thwarted when his attempted pass to Mike Williams was intercepted by Stephon Gilmore on the third down with 10 yards to go.
Earlier in the game, it did not seem that the match would be this close. By the second quarter, the Vikings had taken a commanding 17-0 lead. A Vikings field goal was swiftly followed by Andrew Van Ginkel's thrilling 63-yard interception return. The team then scored a second touchdown, thanks to C.J. Ham, who successfully ran the ball into the end zone from two yards out. The Jets finally scored before the half, with Aaron Rodgers finding Allen Lazard with a successful 10-yard pass to the back of the end zone, making the score 17-7 at the half.
The Jets maintained the pressure on the Vikings throughout the game. By the midpoint of the fourth quarter, the Jets trailed by just 10 points, at 20-10. Rodgers eventually found Garrett Wilson with a one-yard pass, potentially setting the Jets up for an incredible comeback. However, this was not meant to be, as the Vikings answered with a field goal. Despite a dramatic finish, the outcome ultimately rested in the hands of Rodgers. The Jets quarterback, who completed the game with 244 passing yards and two touchdowns, gave away his third interception of the game, ultimately leading to defeat and moving the Jets to 2-3 on the season.
Other notable results from the weekend's NFL action came as the San Francisco 49ers surprisingly lost 24-23 to NFC West rivals the Arizona Cardinals. Despite a half-time score of 23-10 in favor of the 49ers, the Cardinals staged an incredible comeback, courtesy of quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray connected with Elijah Higgins with a two-yard touchdown pass, followed by a two-point conversion. Chad Ryland added the icing to the cake with a 35-yard field goal, securing the Cardinals' lead. When 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy gained possession of the ball in the final minutes, he attempted to drive his team forward but was intercepted by Kyzir White, resulting in a thrilling Cardinals win.
Washington's rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels threw a brilliant 41-yard touchdown to Dyami Brown just before the half to seal a commanding 24-3 lead for the Commanders over the Cleveland Browns. They eventually won 34-13, moving the Commanders to 4-1 on the season – a feat the team had not achieved since 2008. Elsewhere, it was another miserable day for Browns' quarterback Deshaun Watson, with Bryan Robinson Jr. scoring two rushing touchdowns for the Commanders.
