Watch What Happens When Four Men Wear a Bear Costume for the Most Absurd Reason

Four men got mauled by the criminal justice system ... after they dressed up in a bear costume and allegedly damaged several cars as part of a bizarre insurance fraud scheme in Southern California, authorities said.

Ruben Tamrazian, Ararat Davtyan, Melik Mavlian, and George Georgiou, all in their 20s and 30s, were arrested in connection with the wild scheme in a quiet Los Angeles suburb.

The scams appear to have occurred on various dates in a short period. According to evidence presented in the case, at least five high-end cars were involved: a Porsche 911, a Maserati, a Land Rover, a Jaguar F-Pace, and a BMW.

Although it is unclear what type of coverage the convicted men were looking for when perpetrating their scheme, if it was to make a quick buck or in a daring heist, their plan was not as clever as they probably imagined.

The Southern California scam appears not to be very sophisticated and presented many risks for those involved. Images show the men targeting cars that were parked under trees and were being snapped by bystanders.

When they hatched the scheme, the men probably underestimated how swift and well-prepared the authorities would be in getting to the bottom of these scams. This high-cost affair for the four men seems less impressive as authorities started collecting witness statements, building evidence, and examining footage.

With at least five high-end cars already damaged, the total costs of this exercise in futility will not be insignificant. Expect the costs for the four perpetrators to be quite steep as authorities request the men to cover the full repair costs for the damage they supposedly caused.

Though they were dressed in bear costumes, the law enforcement action was no laughing matter for these Southern California men.
