Club Brugge head coach Nicky Hayen has opened up about the aftermath of the club
's meeting with Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika following his red card debacle against AC Milan. The 23-year-old midfielder was handed a red card in the 85th minute of the game which saw Club Brugge lose 1-3 to AC Milan at the San Siro.
According to reports from Soccernet.ng, Hayen revealed that the eagerness is still present in Onyedika despite the unfortunate incident. The red card must have been a bitter pill for Onyedika to swallow as it changed the dynamics of the game. Club Brugge were already trailing 1-2 when the midfielder was given his marching orders. The numbers disadvantage proved too much to bear as AC Milan went on to score a third goal in the dying minutes of the game.
Onyedika has had a decent start to his career in the Belgian Pro League since joining Club Brugge. However, his immaturity was on show as he picked up a red card in a crucial European game. The young midfielder has been an integral part of Club Brugge
's starting XI in the ongoing season and will most likely miss the upcoming games due to suspension. The Club Brugge manager is keen to have Onyedika learn from his mistake so that he returns a better player. With the eagerness still present in Onyedika, Hayen is hopeful that he will bounce back from this setback stronger than before.
The Super Eagles midfielder will have to sit out for a few games before he can return to action. In his absence, Club Brugge will hope that the young midfielder will use this opportunity to reflect on his actions and come back stronger. Meanwhile, the club will look to other midfielders in their ranks to fill the void left by Onyedika. Despite this setback, Onyedika
's experience in playing with a top European club like Club Brugge can only bode well for his future prospects in the Super Eagles. With time and experience, he will learn to channel his passion and become a better player in the process. Onyedika is young and has a whole career ahead of him. Expecting a swift comeback from Onyedika is not too much to ask as he is expected to come back stronger and more determined than before.
