Zoe Kravitz Reveals the Shocking Truth About Directing: 'It's Like Raising a Child!'

Zoe Kravitz has never been one to shy away from new challenges. As the daughter of rock legend Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, the 34-year-old star has grown up in the public eye and has always been drawn to exploring her creative side. From modeling to music, and from acting to directing, Kravitz has proven that she is a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. But in a recent interview, the Big Little Lies star opened up about the challenges of directing a movie and revealed that it's a lot like parenting.

"Directing is like raising a child," Kravitz explained. "You have to be gentle and nurturing, but also firm and commanding. You have to know when to push and when to pull back. And just like with parenting, you never really feel like you're doing it right, but you just have to keep going and trust that everything will work out in the end."

Kravitz, who made her directorial debut with the 2022 film Pussy Island, knows a thing or two about juggling multiple roles. Not only did she direct the film, but she also co-wrote it and starred in it alongside Channing Tatum. And while it was a lot of hard work, Kravitz said that it was also incredibly rewarding.

"As an actor, you're often at the mercy of the director and the writers, and you have to just trust that they know what they're doing. But as a director, you get to be the one who's in control, and that's a really powerful feeling," Kravitz said. "Of course, it's also a lot of pressure, because you're responsible for bringing the entire production together. But it's a good kind of pressure, and it's something that I really thrive on."

Despite the challenges of directing, Kravitz said that she would definitely do it again in the future. In fact, she's already working on her next project, and she's excited to see where it takes her.

"I'm just trying to take things one step at a time and enjoy the process," Kravitz said. "As an artist, you're always looking for new ways to express yourself and push yourself creatively. And for me, directing is just another way to do that."
