Texas Destroys Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Jaw-Dropping 64-Point Blowout

December 16, 2024

Freshman Nic Codie poured in a career-best 20 points off the bench to lead a balanced and lethal Texas attack as the Longhorns romped to a 121-57 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday afternoon in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns’ convincing victory came on the heels of a lackluster 44-38 win over Presbyterian just three days prior, which saw the team struggling to find its rhythm and scoring punch.

However, the team looked nothing like the one that struggled against the Blue Hose. In front of a packed home crowd, the Longhorns kicked off strong as Texas came out and set the tone early on in the first half. At the break, the Longhorns held a commanding 66-31 advantage, showcasing their diverse scoring threats and relentless defensive pressure.

Freshman Nic Codie continued to wreak havoc from the bench, scoring nine of his career-best 20 points in the first 20 minutes. His hot shooting was complemented by the strong play of fellow teammates such as Ryan Perez, who finished with a 14-point outing, albeit in limited action.

As for Arkansas-Pine Bluff, they also showed flashes of brilliance. Notably, forward Kylen Milton, who finished the game with 15 points, struggled with the swarming Texas defense as it frustrated his every move. By halftime, the visiting Golden Lions had no momentum and trailed by an insurmountable 35 points.

Midway through the second half, Texas kept piling it on as Arkansas-Pine Bluff was powerless to stop them. The Golden Lions ultimately trailed by 47 points, 105-58, before eventually dropping 64 points to the Longhorns.

As they celebrated a commanding win, the Longhorns also topped 100 points for the third time this season. Their sterling offense continued its impressive performance, scoring over 120 points in an already 60-point victory margin.

In summary, Texas walked away with an astonishing 64-point margin that overshadowed previous performances, displaying dominance as never before, something which showcased pure individual brilliance and power against their opponents from Arkansas.
